I am not sure a product tour is worth building
Founders keep asking me for a tour. When I sit with them, they skip it and ask where their data goes. A five-minute call answers that. A tour might just be a way to avoid the call.

What was the first sign you trusted in "Founders keep asking me for a tour"?
Respectfully, "When I sit with them, they skip it and ask where their data goes" is an observation, not yet a decision. What number would make you reverse it?
Tours are fine for confidence. They are a poor substitute for the first successful action. If the tour does not end on that action, I would not spend the month.
I built the tour and the drop-off was on step two. The call taught me the empty state was the problem. Build the empty state, keep the call for anyone who asks.

That has not happened before. The change was the empty state sentence, not a new step. I am not throwing a launch for it. I am leaving the sentence alone.

- A user sent a two-minute recording of them getting stuck
It was more useful than the last five calls because they did not tidy it up. They hesitated on a label I thought was obvious. The label changes today. I asked if I could keep the recording internal. They said yes.

- The trial email linked to a 404 for a day
A route rename. The message was otherwise fine. A handful of people hit the dead link. I have mailed them the right one. The checklist now includes clicking the actual email, not the preview.

- The empty state did more than the tooltip tour
I stopped building coach marks and wrote one sentence in the empty project: bring a file, or start with the sample. Activation moved. It is the least glamorous screen in the app and the one I should have written first.
