I am keeping the plainer headline for another week
Nobody praised it. Two people repeated it back correctly. That is the test I said I would use, so I am using it, even though the sharper line is still in a draft.

Two people saying it back is the part I would trust. Praise is easy if the line is clever. I left a sharper headline in a doc for six weeks and nobody missed it.
A week is a fair test. If they still repeat the plain one on Friday, the sharper draft can stay a draft.
Write down what those two people actually said, not your summary of it. By Friday you will not remember the wording.
I changed ours because a friend said it was flat. Signups did not move. The friend does not use the product.

I have been working on a small analytics tool for about four months. The landing page is finally up, but I keep explaining the product the way I would explain it to another founder. If you have five minutes, I would like to know where the value gets fuzzy.

- I do not have logos yet. What should the proof be?
Quoting myself feels worse than an empty page. I have three kind emails and no permission to name the companies. The page currently has no proof at all.

- I added a short 'this is not' section
It lists two products people confuse us with. A tester said it was the first moment they understood us. I was afraid it would sound defensive. It sounded like a boundary.

- I changed the headline and lost the only clear sentence
The old headline was plain and a little dull. The new one sounds sharper and two people asked what the product actually does. I think I optimized for taste.
