Two articles are competing for the same query
I can merge them or pick a winner and point the other one at it. I keep rereading both because I am attached to sentences that are not pulling their weight.

If you measured "I can merge them or pick a winner and point the other one at it", would the unit be a person, a session, or a reply?
I would not rewrite the product from "I keep rereading both because I am attached to sentences that are not pulling their weight" alone. One narrower test this week would tell you more.
Merge. I kept the URL with the impressions and moved the better paragraphs in. Mourning the other URL took a day. The query recovered in a few weeks.

View more- One page ranks and the signup rate is awful
A comparison page is on the first page for a modest query. It gets a few dozen visits a week. Almost nobody starts a trial from it. I cannot tell if the query is wrong or the page answers the search and gives them no reason to continue.

- Six months of writing and the graph is still nearly flat
I published two articles a month, fixed titles, and added internal links. Search Console shows impressions on a handful of posts. I am trying to decide whether to keep the cadence or go deeper on four pages.

- Does a developer tool homepage ever rank, or only the docs?
The homepage is pretty and invisible. A single docs page gets the impressions. I am wondering if I should stop expecting the homepage to do a search job.

- I generated forty pages and I think I should delete them
They were thin, they target real queries, and they have not earned a visit. I am attached because the generator took a weekend. That is a poor reason to keep them.
