The launch post did well and the product was not ready
The post reached people. The import broke for a common file. I spent the day in email instead of talking to anyone who was curious. I am rewriting the launch checklist around the unhappy path.

Respectfully, "The import broke for a common file" is an observation, not yet a decision. What number would make you reverse it?
I have been adjacent to this. The sentence I would not skip is "The post reached people". Finding who it is for mattered more than adding another feature.
Did you open the sent message, or only the preview, when "I spent the day in email instead of talking to anyone who was curious" showed up?
A small launch to the people who asked is a dress rehearsal. I stopped announcing to a cold list until that rehearsal was boring.
I added 'do the import with a hostile sample' to my list after a similar day. The happy path demo is how these slip through.

View more- First invoice, four months later than the plan
Someone paid for LaunchTrail this morning. The plan on the wall said January. It is fine, and it also took longer than I told my friends it would. I am leaving the old date up so I remember the estimate was the fiction.

- Launch feedback is split and I am freezing
Half the notes say the checklist is too long. Half say a step is missing. I have been editing in circles. How do you pick when the comments disagree and both sides sound reasonable?

- I am launching to forty people who asked, not to a directory
The list is short on purpose. Everyone on it has seen the problem. I will write about it afterward if there is something honest to say. I am done launching to people who owe me nothing.

- I will not post a launch thread in a community I do not read
I showed up last time with a link and I could feel it. If I am not willing to answer other people there next week, I do not get to ask for attention this week.
