The failed-payment email sounds like a scolding
It is accurate and it reads like we are disappointed in them. A card failed. I want the mail to sound like a person who can fix it, not a ledger.

I would stay with "I want the mail to sound like a person who can fix it, not a ledger" for the week already named. A quieter result is still a result.
If you measured "It is accurate and it reads like we are disappointed in them", would the unit be a person, a session, or a reply?
I would not rewrite the product from "I want the mail to sound like a person who can fix it, not a ledger" alone. One narrower test this week would tell you more.
I have been adjacent to this. The sentence I would not skip is "It is accurate and it reads like we are disappointed in them". Finding who it is for mattered more than adding another feature.
I added one sentence: your workspace is still there. It lowered the temperature more than a friendlier adjective did.
Lead with the date and the single link. I removed the word 'unfortunately' and the reply rate went up. People were not ignoring the fact. They were ignoring the tone.

The first integration was fast. Invoices, taxes, and a customer who needs a PO are now the work. I am trying to tell a real limit from ordinary boredom with the dashboard.

- Checkout works and the tax note does not
European customers are asking for a VAT line I do not show cleanly. The payment succeeds. The PDF is what they forward to finance, and finance is the one who stalls the renewal.

I replayed a Stripe event during a deploy and the handler was not idempotent. A healthy subscription got a past-due email. The fix is in. I am still embarrassed about the note we sent.

- Does your invoice say tax or VAT in the line item?
A customer in one country corrected the wording and then paid. I do not want a unique template per argument. I also do not want finance to bounce a PDF over a noun.
