Do customers read the build log or only other founders?
I write ShipNotes for both and I suspect the readers are founders. That is fine if I am honest about it. I do not want to pretend it is customer education if it is a peer diary.

What was the first sign you trusted in "That is fine if I am honest about it"?
I have been adjacent to this. The sentence I would not skip is "I write ShipNotes for both and I suspect the readers are founders". Finding who it is for mattered more than adding another feature.
I am not convinced "I do not want to pretend it is customer education if it is a peer diary" is the constraint yet. The people who saw it may have been the wrong room.
I link the diary from the about page and the changelog from the app. Different doors. The overlap is smaller than I hoped and that is useful to know.
I would stay with "I write ShipNotes for both and I suspect the readers are founders" for the week already named. A quieter result is still a result.
Mine is a peer diary. Customers read the changelog, which is shorter and tied to their screen. Mixing the two made both worse.

I like writing the weekly note. I do not like feeling late when the week was support and bug fixes. The log is becoming a place I perform progress instead of recording it.

- This week was mostly support and one small fix
No launch. I fixed the import timeout and answered eleven emails. Writing it down so the week still counts. If your build log only allows victories, it will go quiet at the same time the product needs you.

- How did you get your first 10 paying customers?
Cold email has been a poor use of the week. I tried a few Reddit threads and two LinkedIn posts. People were kind and nobody bought. If you got to the first ten without ads, what was the actual channel?

- How do you say no to a feature a paying user asked for?
Three customers asked for the same export. It is real money, and it pulls the product toward a reporting tool I did not set out to build. I do not want to be precious about the roadmap either.
