Traffic is not traction. Here is how to tell them apart
Pageviews can be rented. A completed job cannot.

Founders use “traction” as a mood. Investors, directories, and Twitter use it as a costume. You need two words that do not swap.
Traffic is arrivals: sessions, impressions, a spike from a thread. Traction is evidence that the product did the job for someone who was not you, more than once. Confusing them is how a Product Hunt day becomes a ghost town on Wednesday.

False friends
- Upvotes on a listing.
- Waitlist size.
- A blog post that ranks for a curiosity query.
- Your own daily logins.
- Screenshot of analytics with the URL cropped.
None of those are worthless. They are just not traction. A catalog card with eight upvotes is still only a card. On SaaSInvader’s Explore, as captured in October 2026, you can see live products with small public counts. That honesty is more useful than a rounded-up “10k+ users” on a landing page you cannot verify.
